Welcome to merdog productions

Welcome!
I am a self-published author/illustrator from Lancashire, in the UK.  I have been writing all my life and wrote my first proper novel The Merdog's Realm in 2003.  The Merdog is the mascot of my website and one of my most favourite creations.
This site is small but there is always a friendly welcome! I launched Merdog Productions way back in 2006 to promote the book, along with some of my artwork.

about me

In 2008 I turned to writing, illustrating and publishing my books full-time, working from home.  The internet provides a fantastic platform for new writers, musicians and artists to promote their work and reach a wider audience.  I make full use of sites such as YouTube, Amazon and others to promote my work.

I have published six printed books so far and it is my ambition to see at least one of them developed into an animated series one day, ideally as 2D animation similar to that seen in the beautifully-animated film Secret of Kells. Click on the links on the right to view examples of my work and to view my online shops.  If you are a writer looking to publish your work, please visit the Lulu website.  I have used this site since 2007 and it is highly recommended.  I've also produced dozens of e-books for Squirrelverse Publishing.  These can be downloaded free from the e-book shop link.  Besides writing, I have done a lot of design work for online-based educational site Sambiglyon.  A whole gallery of work is available to view and download, including desktop wallpapers, avatars and instant messaging icons.

My other main interest besides writing is Greek mythology, which inspired my latest book, classical music and rambling.  I spend a lot of my time walking in my local countryside such as Healey Nab woods and Brinscall.

In July 2011 I published The Secret of Healey Nab.  Set in the real-life countryside near my home, this environmentalist-themed story features the cute Spriggs who dwell in the woods.  I am currently trying to promote this book via local newspapers and the Friends of Healey Nab conservation group, whom I do voluntary work for.  Click the link in the top right to visit the Friends of Healey Nab website.

In September 2011 I won the Chorley Guardian competition to design a logo for the newly-launched Chorley Heritage Centre.  This logo will be visible on the website and all printed material.  I have just published my newest book Morpheus and the First Nightmare - Morpheus is my favourite god in Greek mythology and the book I have written is an original story featuring him and his two brothers, Phantasos and Phobetor.

Latest news: Happy 2012!  Check out my new artwork portfolio! ^^
